Software and Tools for Gifted and Talented Students
ALEKS
The ALEKS math learning website can be used for students who are above grade level or to differentiate for students who move faster than the general pace of the class. Students can teach themselves through mini-lessons and worked out examples in their course. When they finish a course, the teacher can enroll them in the next course online so that the student may work on content for the next school year. |
Tynker
This app starts users with visual-based coding and then progresses to text-based coding. Students who are excelling with content in the classroom may have extra time available to learn a new skill such as computer programming. The though process required for coding and programming can also help to reinforce logical thinking necessary in Algebra and other higher level math courses. |
TedEd
Students who have mastered the current content can watch videos available on the TedEd site and participate in some of the lesson explorations. Many of the lessons promote higher order thinking skills for a deeper understanding of the ideas. |
